Baphumelele vision is to provide shelter for vulnerable/ orphaned children young adults with CHRONIC DISEASE/HIV and AIDS, provide skill development for the unemployed, provide early childhood care, alleviate poverty and provide healthcare information to
Khayelitsha community and the surroundings, so that the lives of everyone we touch can become more productive and accepted individuals who make a difference within society. The past years have been tough on Baphumelele especially with covid-19. After covid-19 we found ourselves in tough situations where we had no fund but with the grace of god we were able to pull through. This is all thanks to our loyal Sponsors who carried us through the years of covid-19.
CHILDREN’S HOME

Cildren’s home provides a holistic residential program to 106 children who were found to be in need of alternative care by Presiding officers from various Children’s Courts in and around Cape Town. These orphans and vulnerable children are provided with a stable, loving environment where all their primary needs are met. Children aged between 0 and 18 years are accommodated and because of the wide age range, many families of siblings who otherwise would have to be separated are placed together at Baphumelele.
GRANNY PROGRAM

The granny program is designed for children living in orphanages who are often deprived of consistent, naturing human interaction.it brings loving caregivers or “Grannies” to help the children they work with overcome signifikant development delays learn what it is to love and receive the attention and care they deserve. Our orphanage has 14 grannies taking turns in taking care of the children
EDUCARE CENTRE

Our Educare offers a holistic, care facility for children, between the ages of 6 months and 5 years, of Khayelitsha and its surroundings by providing day care centre for children and to develop the full potential of each learner, and also to create a lifelong learner who is confident and independent, literate, numerate, and multi-skilled, compassionate, with the respect for the environment and the ability to participate in the society as a critical and active citizen.

FOUNTAIN HOPE
provides a holistic continuum of care to young people aged 18-21, who have been raised in residential care or who have recently been orphaned or who are vulnerable. A safe and nurturing environment to transition positively towards adulthood provides a platform for youth that are not in formal education, employment or training to learn the necessary skills to contribute to society economically and socially and to allow those youth still in high school to finish their education.
HOSPICE IN THE HOME
Our Hospice in the Home project was set up as an outreach program attached to the Respite Care Centre. Each day a team made up of a senior nurse and 3 carers walk through the poorest neighbourhoods offering medical support and attention to those
who are house-bound.
CHILD HEADED HOUSEHOLD
The Child Headed Homes project aims to support these children through mentorship and direct intervention. By keeping the siblings together in a community that they know, they are then able to stabilize and to develop together as a family.
